FC Barcelona to Bring on Board 17-year talent from Sweden

Spanish champions, FC Barcelona, are reportedly keen to sign 17-year-old Lucas Bergvall in the January transfer window, with a long-term plan already in mind for the youngster, says “Mundo Deportivo”.

As part of their ongoing search for new talent, FC Barcelona has reportedly identified Lucas Bergvall to be one of their most promising targets. The youngster’s confident performances at senior level have elevated him as a potential addition to the Barcelona ranks.

While the Catalan club continually scours the globe for exciting prospects, many of these targets often remain out of reach due to financial constraints and stiff competition. The recruitment policy, hence, lies in their ability to discover unpolished gems before they hit the limelight. Lucas Bergvall seems to be the next such ‘golden shot’.

Despite being just 17, Bergvall has already debuted with Sweden’s senior national team and represented Djurgården, Sweden’s twelve times national champions, in 29 matches.

According to Fernando Polo from “Mundo Deportivo”, Barcelona’s interest in the young Swedish talent is high. The Spanish giants are not only tracking him, but are reportedly keen on bringing him on-board this January, prioritising his transfer.

After a long period of scouting, the move for Bergvall is finally expected to happen. However, the young talent’s signing is not viewed as an immediate solution to manager Xavi’s midfield conundrums. Instead, the club’s plan for Bergvall is to gradually integrate him into the first team, alternately deploying him in the reserve team to help hone his skills and experience.

Confirming the talks between the teams, Bo Andersson, the sporting director of Djurgården, said, “Yes, I can confirm that we’ve been in contact and have had discussions with Barcelona. However, in my opinion, we have not yet started negotiations.”

According to Fernando Polo’s report, it is now time for the next steps to be taken in this potential transfer.
