Empoli’s Andreazzoli says incidents decided the match, believes they deserved a draw

Aurelio Andreazzoli, the coach of Empoli Football Club, expressed his feelings on his teams’ match against Sassuolo. Speaking to Dazn after the game, he felt both sides demonstrated quality play against each other.

During his interview, the Empoli coach said, “We’ve played a quality game against a strong team.” He stated that a draw would have satisfied both teams, “instead we are here with a bitter taste in our mouths.” He implied that it wasn’t their day and football matches can often be sealed by specific incidents.

In an effort to speak to the entertainment value of the game, Andreazzoli added, “I believe the audience was entertained. We put forth a lively game.” He touched upon the team’s recent issues with scoring, and stated that, “We had the problem of goals, today we made three, but they weren’t enough.”

The Empoli coach called for patience and expressed the need for his team to maintain their current attitude, concluding with a motivational call to his team, “We need to keep the same desire to perform.” His comments suggest a sense of optimism despite the disappointing result, highlighting the resilience that underlies professional sports.
