Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, has weighed in on the club’s transfer strategy for the January window.
Speaking about striker Joao Felix and right winger Ferran Torres, whose impressive performances have attracted significant attention, he insisted on the heightened level of competition at elite clubs like Barcelona.
Deco said, “Joao Felix? He has been very significant in many matches, along with Ferran Torres. In a big club like ours, it’s normal to have competition, we’re not here to pat backs.” The sporting director however ruled out any exits in the upcoming transfer window.
“Nobody will leave,” he was quoted as saying, adding, “The addition of players to the squad depends on Financial Fair Play. There are many players we like and we have to focus on what we have.”
Deco also underlined that strategizing for transfer market requires proactive preparation. He said, “At Barcelona, we always have to be ready and aware, but the market is prepared in advance.”
Expressing his understanding of fans’ concerns about the club’s future direction and player roster, he concluded, saying, “I understand that there are people who are worried and they ask me questions.”
