Capello urges Inter’s Inzaghi to stop experimenting against Lazio

Former football coach, Fabio Capello, has spoken out about the clash between Lazio and Inter in Serie A, in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Capello voiced his expectations, saying, “Inzaghi needs to do one thing tonight, that is to play the best team and not experiment as has happened on other occasions. Those who are fit must play, it’s far too critical a match to try to win: you have to deploy every ounce of Inter’s quality and immediately show a desire to bring the result home.”

The ex-manager highlighted key areas of concern for Inter. “If I were Inzaghi, I would be worried about their quality passing when putting on pressure. Inter should be careful not to expose themselves, not to offer space for counter-attacks: Lazio has fast players and very skilful in the open field, so you need to attack with intelligence, always remain well-positioned, compact and aggressive.”

Capello also warned of the threat posed by Lazio’s key players. “Do not let Lazzari turn the action to the right, behind Dimarco, and avoid the one-on-one with Zaccagni from the opposite side.”

Nevertheless, he was optimistic about Inter’s midfield, particularly spotlighting Calhanoglu. “Inter today has an extraordinary midfield, Calhanoglu is the pivot around which everything revolves: quick thinking and quality in gameplay. Barella and Mkhitaryan are also making rare moves in Europe. In today’s football, that’s how you win – with quality and speed,” he concluded.
