Fabio Capello, former coach, has spoken about the first half of the season for Stefano Pioli’s Milan. Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Capello said, “Against Genoa, I saw a Milan with more spirit, more willingness, more sacrifice. The team has grown in this aspect. It is true that quality makes the difference, but the desire counts. In terms of quality, Leao is the first, perhaps the only one, capable of deciding with a play: he must be taken as he is, he seems apathetic and then he ignites. I have seen Theo Hernandez push less, he seems restrained or below his own standards. Rafa, on the other hand, has created almost all the goal opportunities for the team. He scores, assists, provides assistance to his teammates, and scares opponents into doubling up on him. There are moments where he is unstoppable. Moreover, Pioli also has an expanded squad with additional starters. The surprising thing is how quickly they have integrated, from the beginning they have been a part of the team: they have been able to offer their contribution right from the start.”
