Brighton’s manager Roberto De Zerbi expressed his delight on clinicaing the top spot in the Europa League group stage, during an interview with TNT Sports.
“I believe this is the best moment of my life. I’ve lost my voice, my everything. It was an incredible match, we played phenomenal football, and rightfully deserved to win and secure the top spot,” De Zerbi is quoted as saying.
He spoke about the possibility of even more goals, conveying his team’s jubilation and pride for Brighton, their supporters and all the people working within the club. He also made a point of dedicating this victory to his former Foggia players, the fans and to Rino Gattuso.
“With Rino Gattuso, I had lost the most important match of my career so far,” De Zerbi reminisced, likely referring to the Foggia-Pisa matchup in the Serie C playoffs.
He confessed that the past defeat still stays with him but acknowledged the togetherness in their recent triumph, stating these victories are shared amongst everyone at the team.
Overall, his interview displays a raw portrayal of both joy and humility for the events in his managerial journey.
