Sources close to Leonardo Bonucci have commented on recent developments in the betting case where the defender’s name has cropped up. Bonucci himself, as well as those close to him, are not standing for it. A statement was released in response to the news that the defender allegedly knew of Nicolò Fagioli’s betting habits before the midfielder’s name surfaced in the now infamous case. The statement reads: “What was reported this morning on certain news outlets is severely damaging to both his professional image and personal reputation, and he therefore intends to defend himself in the appropriate places”.
