Argentina’s legendary football star, Juan Roman Riquelme, has been voted as the new president of Boca Juniors, one of the country’s most eminent football clubs.
Riquelme, indisputably a favourite within the club, emerged victorious in an election that comprised of himself alongside the club’s incumbent president, Jorge Amor Ameal. Their ticket overcame the opposition led by Ibarra by almost 30 points before the final count.
The vote took place at the “La Bombonera” stadium in Buenos Aires. A record-breaking 43,367 members participated in the election, setting a new milestone for Argentine football history.
