The future of Real Betis player, Juan Miranda, who has been frequently linked with Milan, has been commented on by José Miguel López Catalán, the Vice President of Real Betis. These comments were made during an appearance on the Canal Sur programme, ‘La Jugada’.
López Catalán stated that Miranda is a player who is well loved at the club. “I personally fought to bring him to Betis. We believed this was his place. We had the great joy of winning the Copa del Rey.”
He addressed the player’s contractual situation and indicated that attempts at renewal have so far been unsuccessful. This, he explained, was down to either sporting or financial reasons.
López Catalán acknowledged that Miranda is an attractive prospect to other clubs, citing interest from the likes of Milan, Dortmund, and other Spanish teams. “Anything can happen. We might reach an agreement and hopefully he renews with Betis for many years, or he might get a massive offer. If he’s offered double or triple his current wage, it’s understandable he might accept. We really don’t know yet.”
He expressed a positive relationship with Miranda’s family and his agent, denying any conflicts in the negotiation process. He stated, “It’s not just about a signing bonus, which can go to the player or the agent. It’s also about wages. As we don’t make transfers, I could offer double or triple the contract. And Betis cannot match that.”
These comments come amid growing speculation around Miranda’s future, and signify the challenges that Real Betis face in retaining players in a competitive transfer market.
