Benzema Changed His Mind? Praises Arabia as Exceptional and Peaceful

Striker Karim Benzema, currently playing for Al-Ittihad, has spoken out about recent transfer rumours suggesting his possible departure from the Saudi Pro League.

In an interview with GQ Middle East, Benzema addressed the speculation surrounding his future. “Saudi Arabia is an exceptional place, I am at peace here, it is a new challenge that I enjoy, a long-term project in a Muslim country,” said the striker. He emphasised that he’s not merely a player in Saudi Arabia but also an ambassador.

The Frenchman expressed his commitment in helping the Saudi Pro League thrive. “I am here to bring in other great European players in the near future, even though there already are some. The challenge is to raise the level of this league and put it on par with the European tournaments.”

Addressing the idea of retirement, Benzema stated, “Time will tell, but it will be me who chooses when to end my career.” He further reflected on his career journey, expressing his pride in his accomplishments despite the challenges faced. “I would like to be remembered as someone who started from the bottom and made it to the top on his own, despite the obstacles encountered. It’s something that makes me very proud.”

These comments come as speculation around his future has increased, with numerous transfer rumours suggesting that his time in the Saudi Pro League might be coming to an end. However, Benzema’s recent statements seem to underline his commitment to Al-Ittihad and the broader project of enhancing football in Saudi Arabia.
