Gewiss Stadium was the stage for an exciting Serie A 2023/24 showdown, as Atalanta locked horns with Salernitana.
The match turned out to be an intense battle, ending in a comprehensive 4-1 triumph for Atalanta. The game saw an outstanding performance from Miranchuk, who scored the fourth and final goal of the match.
The match witnessed 4 minutes of recovery time. As the clock struck 89 minutes, Miranchuk received a pass from De Ketelaere and converted it into a thunderous goal, stretching Atalanta’s lead to 4-1. An unlucky miss by Miranchuk earlier at the 86 minute mark was quickly forgotten as the Atalanta player left the Salernitana defence reeling once again.
Changes came thick and fast as the game progressed. The 85th minute saw a substitution for Salernitana with Cabral replacing Dia. Around the same time, Atalanta also made some changes to their line-up, bringing on Miranchuk and Adopo for Koopmeiners and Lookman.
The third goal of the match was scored by De Ketelaere in the 82nd minute, receiving a vital pass from Scalvini and making no errors in directing it to the back of the net.
What came as a boon for Atalanta proved to be a bane for Salernitana as they failed to capitalise on some promising opportunities. A missed opportunity by Lookman in the 78th minute and a warning for Ruggeri in the 77th minute showed how heated the match had become.
In the 75th minute, Atalanta brought on Hateboer, replacing Zappacosta. Yet another attempt by Salernitana’s Dia hit the posts at 74th minute, much to the relief of Atalanta defenders.
The second goal for Atalanta was a classic team effort as an expert lay-off from Muriel found Lookman, who then set up Pasalic for a brilliant finish in the 51st minute.
After a goalless first half, the opening goal for Atalanta was scored by Muriel in the 47th minute. Originating from a corner, the ball was expertly defended by Atalanta. Muriel latched onto the loose ball and, from the edge of the penalty area, uncorked a venomous strike into the net.
The first goal of the match, however, came in somewhat of a surprise, being scored by Salernitana’s Pirola in the 10th minute in a well-executed free kick situation.
Further updates and the players ratings will be available after the match.
