A shocking development has emerged from Atalanta: the Marc Pubill transfer has collapsed.
The reasons for the failed transfer of the Spanish defender from Almeria have now come to light.
It appeared everything was in place, but Marc Pubill will not be joining Atalanta after all.
According to a report from Sky Sports, the player did not pass the second part of his medical examinations, causing the transfer to fall through.
This outcome has understandably left fans and management disappointed, as Pubill was expected to fortify Atalanta’s defence this season.
“We were confident that all the formalities had been completed, but the medical tests are crucial,” an Atalanta spokesperson explained to Sky Sports.
The spokesperson added, “It’s unfortunate, but we have to prioritise the health and fitness of our players.”
With this transfer off the table, Atalanta will need to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
Almeria, meanwhile, will retain Pubill’s services as they prepare for the upcoming fixtures.
