El Nesyri’s transfer to Roma seems to be in jeopardy as the Sevilla striker is reportedly inclined to accept an offer from former Roma manager Jose Mourinho’s new club, Fenerbahce.
The promising move away from Sevilla for the Moroccan forward, who has been sought after by Roma, appears now to be taking a different turn.
Fabrizio Romano, the well-respected football journalist, has reported that the Turkish side have made significant strides in securing El Nesyri’s signature.
A source close to the player confirmed these developments, indicating that the negotiations between the clubs are at an advanced stage.
The source stated, “El Nesyri is very interested in working under Jose Mourinho again. Discussions with Fenerbahce have been positive.”
This unexpected twist serves as a tactical manoeuvre by Mourinho, who seems intent on leveraging his past connections to strengthen his new squad.
Fenerbahce’s aggressive approach to this transfer has thus far surpassed Roma’s efforts to land the 26-year-old striker.
As such, Roma will need to reassess their strategy if they wish to remain in the race for El Nesyri.
