Fiorentina is set to finalise their first transfer window deal, securing the services of Marco Faraoni. The defender arrived in the city last evening and is scheduled to undergo medical examinations tomorrow before signing his contract. Faraoni, the former captain of Verona, is leaving the club after an impressive stint of five and a half years, during which he made 163 appearances and scored 19 goals.
Fiorentina is expected to announce Faraoni’s arrival tomorrow. It’s reported that the agreement with Verona includes a loan with an option to buy. Earlier in the day, the Tuscan side also released a cryptic social media post, showing a series of hieroglyphics that were a play on words, hinting at Faraoni’s signing.
Upon his arrival in Florence, Faraoni expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m very happy to be in Florence. Everything has happened very quickly, and at the moment, I don’t know if I’ll start with the team for the Supercoppa Italiana. It’s not that easy. But I’m hoping we can win it. That’s the dream. I wanted Fiorentina very much, hoped for it until the end, and now I’m happy”.
It should be noted that Faraoni’s intentions for possibly playing in the Supercoppa Italiana remains unclear, based on his statement. The forthcoming days will reveal if and when he’ll make his first appearance in a competitive match for Fiorentina.
