Nice and Algerian national team defender, Youcef Atal, has been sentenced to eight months of suspended imprisonment by French prosecutors. The punishment comes along with a fine of 45,000 euros.
This concludes the legal matter that commenced in the early days of the conflict outbreak in the Gaza Strip between Hamas and Israel. Atal had posted videos on his social media criticizing the state of Israel, saying it was a “black day for Jews”.
Under the terms of the punishment, the player is also required to publish his conviction at his own expense in the national newspaper Le Monde and the local Nice-Matin.
