Diego Llorente, the central defender from AS Roma, recently spoke to Sportmediaset on the eve of their Coppa Italia clash against Cremonese.
Llorente expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming match and the team’s intense preparation. “The match against Cremonese is a deep source of excitement for the team. We’ve practiced relentlessly and hold our opponents in great regard”, the central defender said. Further, Llorente emphasized the gravity of the match, stating that if they performed well, it would be a straightforward affair otherwise, it might get tricky.
When asked about the prospect of a quarter-final derby, Llorente insisted that the focus is to win their immediate fixture against Cremonese before turning their attention to the possible next round.
Llorente was also candid about Roma’s standing in Serie A. “Our current standing isn’t reflective of our team’s potential,” he admitted, “but I am confident that our performance in the last two matches has been commendable.”
When speaking about the team coach, Jose Mourinho, Llorente showed his respect and admiration. “Mourinho is notably relevant for me; he brought me here to Roma. He’s the ideal coach, not just for the team but also for the supporters,” he said. Furthermore, Llorente expressed his desire for Mourinho to remain with Roma, adding, “It’s intriguing to note how differently fans perceive a coach. As a player, I focus on his coaching skills. Fans, however, focus on his personality. And Mourinho connects with Roma fans in a unique way.”
