Ex-goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca has spoken to Tuttosport about Bologna’s season under Thiago Motta.
Pagliuca believes this could be Bologna’s year to return to European football competitions. Discussing his optimism about the team’s current season, he was quoted by Tuttosport saying, “I believe this year could be a good time for Bologna to return to Europe.”
While he did not specify whether it would be the Conference or Europa League, Pagliuca did hint at their potential to achieve more. He urged not to put limitations on the players, highlighting that the team has all the necessary means to compete internationally again after a 25-year hiatus.
Beyond the team’s performance on the pitch, Pagliuca also lauded head coach Thiago Motta’s conduct. He appreciated that Motta “never speaks out of turn” and emphasised the vital role he plays in leading the team.
Pagliuca didn’t overlook the contribution of Giovanni Sartori’s work in the market, asserting him as one of the best Italian directors alongside Marotta. Bologna’s recent performances and player acquisitions demonstrate these sentiments, indicating a promising stint for the team in European football.
