In a recent turn of events at Italian club Salernitana, the team officially announced the departure of its director general, Morgan De Sanctis. The club took to its website to inform fans of his departure.
In a public statement, the US Salernitana 1919 confirmed that it has “mutually agreed to terminate the contract with Mr Morgan De Sanctis.”
Danilo Iervolino, the President of the US Salernitana 1919, expressed his gratitude towards De Sanctis and his team for their work. He said, “I would like to thank director De Sanctis and his entire staff for their work, demonstrated professionalism, and the effort put into achieving Salernitana’s historical second survival in Serie A.”
Iervolino also expressed confidence in the club’s future continuity, wishing De Sanctis and his team the best in their future endeavours in the world of football.
In his goodbye message, continued Iervolino, De Sanctis conveyed his pride in contributing to “the best championship in Salernitana’s history” and thanked his staff for aiding him in developing and enhancing the Salernitana brand.
De Sanctis thanked President Iervolino, the club, and the entire city of Salerno for the year and a half spent together. The former director general also affirmed his eternal connection with the Salernitana family and its passionate fans, and wished the club success in achieving its goal of survival in the league. The mantra “Avanti Bersagliera!” — which translates as “Forward, Bersagliera!” — sums up his sentiment for the club as he moves on.
The news of De Sanctis’s departure follows the recent return of Walter Sabatini to Salernitana’s executive management. The direction this reshuffling will steer the club towards, however, remains a source of intrigue and speculation among football enthusiasts.
