After Bologna’s impressive comeback win over Inter in the Coppa Italia, coach Thiago Motta spoke about the match and the team’s performance. Speaking with Sportmediaset, the victory was hailed as extraordinary.
“We had a complete game,” Motta said, insisting that the opening lineup did an extraordinary job. He said their substitutions injected fresh energy into the side to maintain momentum. He praised the team’s effort against the previous Champions League finalists, applauded the management, and expressed his delight at the victory.
He said, “This moment is fantastic, I thank you for the compliments towards me and the boys. To get to such a moment involves a lot of daily work, it is easy to say that there are minor problems but this group never complains.”
Regarding the decision to let Arnautović go to pave the way for Zirkzee, Motta clarified that it was Arnautović’s choice to return to Inter after his impressive stint at Bologna. “As a coach, it wasn’t easy, but as a friend, I was happy for him,” the Bologna coach added. He expressed his belief that Zirkzee is doing a fantastic job and encouraged him to keep up the good work.
When asked about the coaches who have left a significant impact on him, Motta mentioned Prandelli, Ancelotti, Mourinho, and Gasperini. He said all of them showed a passion for coaching and left an indelible mark on his career. He singled out Ancelotti as a master, Mourinho as the one who instilled his winning mentality, and felt fortunate to have them in his career.
