Belotti’s Potential Move to Fiorentina Discussed

Reports from “La Gazzetta dello Sport” hint at a late transfer deal brewing between AS Roma and Fiorentina involving striker Andrea Belotti. The club, fondly known as ‘Viola’, is willing to shell out around £1.2 million for the mid-season acquisition as they scramble to secure a deal before the transfer window slams shut.

“Belotti is set to make 2.5 million euros plus bonuses. Viola should pay about 1.2 million, being in the middle of the season, and they’re looking to secure a discount. But the deal should eventually go through, thanks to the player’s determination. Belotti hasn’t wanted to move abroad: he’s turned down several offers, including one from Betis. Florence is more than a welcome destination for him, as the team’s in the race for the Champions League, and he knows he’ll be starting regularly. The transfer should be independent of the departure of Nzola, who wishes to stay,” reported La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Despite scoring a humble tally of just 10 goals for the capitol side in two years, several of which coming outside league play, Andrea Belotti could still promise quite a few marquee moments for Fiorentina. Notably, the forward, who consistently ended the season with double figures in six of his seven years at Torino, didn’t manage to celebrate a goal in the entire 2022-2023 tournament. However, his tenacity on the pitch was widely appreciated during his stint at Roma.

The striker had spectacular outings in games against Betis in the Europa League 2022-23, where he scored a fantastic-but-disallowed goal, and against Salernitana in the 2023-24 season, where his previous 31-game goal drought finally ended with a spectacular brace. He also lit up the pitch in a 4-0 thrashing of Servette in the same season, netting a brace, showcasing his dogged fight and versatility by scoring an unusual diving-header off a corner kick.

These are indicators of what Belotti could bring to Fiorentina – a striker with a fighting spirit, versatility, and a knack for clutch goals. It remains to be seen if the deal will get over the line before the transfer window closes.
