When was the last time Serie A played on Christmas?

The Serie A pauses to celebrate Christmas, but it wasn’t always the case in the past. The 1960 Christmas day games stand as evidence, marking exactly 63 years since the last league matches were staged on this special day, says Sebastiano Vernazza in the latest edition of SportWeek.

According to Vernazza, all the matches broke between 2:30 pm and 2:45 pm, with one notable exception at San Paolo. “They started there at 12 noon to allow people to participate in the traditional lunch”, he originaly stated in SportWeek. As a result, despite the dull 0-0 draw with Atalanta, a staggering 40,000 spectators filled the stadium showing the different times in football history.
