Roma Football Club is reportedly seeking to boost its defence line, with key targets unveiled, according to the Italian sports newspaper, Corriere dello Sport. One of the primary objectives for Roma’s upcoming transfer window is to acquire a defender as early as January, bearing in mind long term absence of their player, Chris Smalling, who may be leaving the club.
The sports daily disclosed four names Roma is currently considering. These include Pol Lirola, Arthur Theate, Oumar Solet and Eric Dier. Solet had recently publically praised Roma’s manager, José Mourinho, which the club has taken note of. Notably, Dier, who worked under Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur, is understood to be prepared to rejoin the Portuguese manager at Roma.
The anticipation of the January transfer window brings much speculation about who will come to reinforce Roma’s defence and the space they aim to fill with Smalling’s potential departure.
