Super League, EU verdict due on December 21: what to expect

The footballing world anticipates the upcoming ruling by the European Court on 21st December regarding the inception of the Super League, with Juventus being one of the key clubs involved according to Guido Vaciago of Tuttosport.

He outlines the club’s current position on the matter. Following a letter in July, Juventus took a step back from the company created to manage the Super League, where it was initially a founding member. Vaciago states, “This move was appreciated by UEFA, but [it] does not definitively clarify the club’s stance”.

The club has indicated that should an alternative, more lucrative competition be developed, they would have to seriously consider being part of it; not least because they are a listed company and thus obliged to review any opportunity to increase revenue.

“The Juventus wait for the European Court’s decision then they will evaluate,” Vaciago says, pointing out that Juventus’s position mirrors that of other major Italian and European clubs.
