Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo spoke to Sky Sport after the team’s success in qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League.
“We’re happy, advancing was our goal. The group wasn’t easy and we had to fight for it. We’re happy we’ve achieved the goal we set,” said Di Lorenzo as reported by Sky Sport.
The full-back and captain also highlighted the team’s defensive solidity, complimenting goalkeeper Alex on his part in maintaining a clean sheet.
In addition, Di Lorenzo acknowledged the gratitude towards their loyal fans and expressed a sense of satisfaction in winning for them as it has not happened in quite some time. He added emphasis on the need to continue putting in quality performances and showed a maturity in understanding areas they need to work on.
“We’re pleased we haven’t conceded a goal,” he said, and further added, “We need to work and improve in certain aspects, we’re playing good games. The performances are good, we must continue for this jersey and for the fans.”
While celebrating this success, the team captain is already looking ahead, acknowledging areas where improvement is needed.
