Milan, Pioli: The game should have ended with a positive result

Milan’s head coach, Stefano Pioli, made some comments after his team’s defeat against Atalanta. Speaking to DAZN, he provided a detailed analysis of the match.

Regarding the loss, Pioli stated: “When we were on equal footing, it seemed like we had the upper hand. However, we need to be sharper in our defensive choices. Our mistakes cost us a lot.”

Talking about the first two goals conceded, he mentioned: “When you let in three goals, it means we did not work well as a team in the defensive phase. We weren’t astute enough in intercepting the opponent’s advances. Despite returning to the game with intensity and quality, aiming for a positive outcome, we suffered a heavy defeat.”

Pioli was, however, pleased with the comeback of Bennacer. He inferred that had the match ended 2-2, a lot of aspects would have been viewed positively. “We wanted to maintain momentum, we were in the game but unfortunately our opponents in the box were better than us.”
