Marseille’s search for a victory goes on after a four-game winless run, ending their latest match with a 1-1 draw against Strasbourg. The club’s coach, Rino Gattuso, was far from pleased with his squad’s performance.
In comments picked up by Ouest France, Gattuso expressed his disappointment with the team’s second-half performance. “I take my responsibility, but I don’t understand how a team can play a first half with that quality, and then play so poorly in the second. I think it was the worst second half since I’ve been here,” he said.
The former AC Milan manager stated his expectations following the recent disappointing display. He communicated his desire for consistency and improvement as opposed to the isolated good performances he’d seen so far.
In addition to the disappointing performance, Gattuso also emphasised the need for the right mentality to face the whole match, which goes far beyond 45 minutes. “I’m bitter, and I expect more. I anticipate a very clear reaction. I expect continuity, not isolated performances. A match doesn’t last 45 minutes. You have to face it with the right mindset,” he added.
Marseille will need to heed Gattuso’s stern words if they are to turn their fortunes around in the games ahead.
