Following Manchester United’s exit from the Champions League, coach Erik ten Hag discussed the match and his team’s performance with TNT Sports.
Ten Hag stated, “We didn’t lose the qualification today, that’s clear. We put in some good performances, but they weren’t enough.”
The Manchester United coach went on to praise his team’s performance on the day, despite the disappointing outcome. “We played very well today and didn’t deserve to lose, but it happened,” he said. He acknowledged his team’s strong defensive organization and their pressing throughout the match.
The match saw Manchester United up against a strong team, Bayern, who according to ten Hag, “even when they are not at the top of their game, have individuals who can exploit every single moment.” Unfortunately for Manchester United, this is exactly what took place.
In spite of the loss, ten Hag commended his team’s spirit and effort. “My players gave their all, the spirit was evident. I have to really give credit to the team, pay them great compliments for the way they worked together, as a team, against this Bayern,” he concluded to TNT Sports.
This exit from the Champions League is sure to be a disappointment for Manchester United, but ten Hag’s comments suggest a sense of pride in his team’s performance and indicates a positive outlook moving forward.
