La Liga: Girona defeats Barcelona, returns to top of league table

Girona FC has clinched yet another victory, this time against Barcelona, reclaiming their lead in La Liga. In the Catalan derby against Barcelona, Michel’s team emerged victorious, winning 4-2.

Ukrainian player Dovbyk was the first to score at the 12th minute but this was shortly equalised by Lewandowski. As the first half came to an end, Miguel Gutierres scored a crucial goal.

As tension ratcheted up towards the end of the match, Valery added another point for Girona. Though Barcelona’s Gundogan managed to find the nets in extra time, Stuani sealed the victory for Girona with a remarkable goal in the 95th minute.

Regarded as the revelation of the Liga, Girona has already met their season’s survival target set by the club. Now they find themselves at the helm of the leaderboard, surpassing Real Madrid, who recently drew with Betis. Girona now stands a solid seven points ahead of Barcelona.
