Former Juventus striker Alessandro Matri recently spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about the team’s performance in the first half of the season.
Matri praised manager Max Allegri, stating, “Yes, Max is the added value. He has united the team and made it solid: the game is not yet beautiful, but he is highlighting the individual players for their characteristics, and he is doing very well in defence.”
However, Matri expressed his expectations for more goals from attackers Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa. He acknowledged their injury issues, saying, “I expected more goals from Vlahovic and Chiesa, who have great qualities, but both have the mitigating factor of physical ailments.”
He also compared the current Juventus team to the one he played for during the 2011-12 season under manager Antonio Conte, noting that they all contributed to scoring goals, with Matri himself being the top scorer with 10 goals.
