Lorenzo Casini, the President of Lega Serie A, recently spoke to ANSA concerning professional teams in Italy.
In his statement, he addressed the unusual situation where Italy, unlike any other European country, has to manage 100 professional teams across three leagues.
“The issue is not about the 20 Serie A teams, but it concerns the 100 professional teams spread across three leagues. That doesn’t exist in any other European country,” Casini said to ANSA.
Casini touched on the need to consider this unique issue and suggested work needs to focus on enhancing the capabilities of the secondary teams. He called this a major concern that requires attention within the Italian football infrastructure.
