Cannavaro says Italy no longer produces champions – it’s a problem

Fabio Cannavaro, former defender and coach, has spoken to Ansa about the situation of the Italian national team. According to Cannavaro, the system has not been working well in recent years. “We need to find new solutions and understand why we are not producing as many champions as before, why it is so difficult to qualify for a World Cup, and why we are at risk of missing out on the European Championship, things that used to be normal for us,” he said.

Cannavaro also pointed out that there are now many other sports that young people are practicing, and there are also fewer children being born, which are contributing to the decline in Italian football talent. He believes that it is up to those in charge of football to understand what needs to change. “Those who do my job always try to be the best. We need to work, study, stay updated, and then we will see what the future brings,” he added.

This interview with Fabio Cannavaro reveals his concerns about the current state of Italian football and the need for significant changes in order to revive the national team.
