Buffon on Kvara: “He is as deserving of the Ballon d’Or as Haaland and Mbappé”

At the book presentation of “Kvaradona. Un miracolo georgiano,” Gianluigi Buffon, head of the National team, shared his thoughts about the young player Kvaratskhelia. Buffon emphasized that without experiencing firsthand what is happening in the team, it’s difficult to judge the coach’s efforts. He also mentioned that the Napoli team faced challenges this year, unlike the previous season when they were riding high on enthusiasm. Buffon expressed his curiosity about Kvaratskhelia’s impact in Italy, and compared his playing style to Lentini.

“Physically he reminds me of Lentini, that type of player,” Buffon said of Kvaratskhelia. “Perhaps Lentini was more linear, while the Georgian player excels in his dribbling and movements. His skill set is rare to find.”

Buffon also spoke about the comparisons of Kvaratskhelia to top players like Mbappè and Haaland in relation to the Ballon d’Or. “When we talk about Kvaratskhelia and the Ballon d’Or, we are speaking the truth. Of course, he will have to find the right situation, but as a talent, he could compete with the likes of Mbappè and Haaland,” Buffon said.
