In the aftermath of Borussia Dortmund’s exit from the German Cup at the hands of Stuttgart, midfielder Emre Can admitted that the players need to take responsibility for the defeat.
The player spoke openly about his team’s performance, stressing the need for improvement and greater bravery on the field. He expressed concern over the team’s lack of pressure and courage when in possession of the ball.
“Each of us should take blame, myself included. We do not press enough and we are not brave enough when we have the ball,” Can said. He continued by saying that they are always under pressure because their opponents play better.
Expressing a note of urgency, Can added, “We have to come together because things can’t continue like this.” Meetings and discussions are expected to follow among the team to decide on the best way forward following their latest disappointment.
