Saverio Sticchi Damiani, president of Lecce Football Club, has shared some observations about the team’s latest match against Bologna in a recent interview with the Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia.
Sticchi Damiani was particularly struck by an episode that, according to him, decisively influenced the match’s outcome. He was quoted as saying, “The incident that decided Sunday’s result was crystal clear. The penalty awarded on Falcone was very clear.”
However, he expressed surprise over an offside call involving Dorgu, describing it as a glaring blunder. “The VAR intervention was necessary,” he added, referring to a contentious move in which the opponent was compelled to bring down Falcone, a goalkeeper displaying the moves of a striker.
Sticchi Damiani emphasized that the incident summarises the whole spirit of the team.
