At the Groupama Arena, Ferencvaros and Fiorentina battled it out in the final match of the group stages in the Conference League 2023/2024 season.
The match commenced with Fiorentina seeking to seize the field, but both teams were cautious during the early part of the game. In the 20th minute, Ikonè came on for Gonzalez due to a physical problem with the Argentine player. In terms of pace, teams coached by Stankovic and Italiano proceeded at a slow rhythm throughout the first half, with neither seeming inclined to take any significant risks, hence goal opportunities were scarce.
Towards the 31st minute, Milenkovic received a yellow card.
The second half began with an impactful start as Ferencvaros scored a goal in the 47th minute. The Hungarian team secured their lead, thanks to Zachariassen who took hold of a loose ball in the box, scoring the first goal of the match for the home team.
In an attempt to turn the tide, Italiano brought in Kouame and Nzola replacing Brekalo and Mandragora at the 63rd minute. Fiorentina’s efforts eventually paid off when Ranieri equalised in the 72nd minute following a corner, scoring the goal that provisionally placed Fiorentina at the top of the group.
