Napoli’s Osimhen skips training, flies to Morocco for the Ballon d’Or

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, will miss the team’s final training ahead of their Champions League clash against Braga. The Nigerian forward, who is among the top three finalists for the African Ballon d’Or alongside Hakimi and Salah, has flown to Morocco for the prestigious award ceremony.

Napoli gave Osimhen permission to make the trip. He is expected to return to Naples on a private flight overnight in preparation for the forthcoming match.

Victor Osimhen’s absence comes as a significant decision, given the importance of the upcoming Champions League tie. However, the club has shown support for the player’s individual achievements. The African Ballon d’Or award honours the best footballing talent from the continent, and Osimhen is representing Italy in the distinguished event.

The finalists for the award, besides Osimhen from Napoli, include Achraf Hakimi from Paris Saint-Germain and Mohamed Salah from Liverpool. The winner of the award will be announced later this evening in Morocco.
