Empoli: Shpendi’s father identified as Cesena-Olbia attacker

In a startling incident during the Cesena-Olbia football match last night, a spectator invaded the pitch at the end of the game attempting to assault the visiting team’s goalkeeper, Rinaldi. In an unexpected turn of events, this spectator has links to Empoli FC and specifically to Stiven Shpendi.

The assailant is, in fact, the father of the Albanian footballer who plays for the Tuscan club. He was in Cesena to support Stiven’s brother, Christian, a striker for Cesena. As the final whistle blew, the man charged onto the pitch aiming a punch at the Sardinian goalkeeper’s face, fortunately just grazing him. The source of the reports is the Italian news website, Calcionews24.

The incident has indirectly involved Empoli and one of its key players, Stiven Shpendi, in a controversy. As of yet, there has been no comment from the Empoli FC or the Shpendi family regarding the incident.
