Courtois: Injury will keep me out of the Euros

Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has announced his withdrawal from Euro 2024. The news came during an interview with Sporza, where the Belgian international confirmed his unavailability for the premier European championship.

Courtois revealed that an injury is the reason for his decision to opt-out of the competition. “Due to my injury, I will not be participating in the Euro,” Courtois stated. He went on to talk about his recovery time, explaining that he is currently focused on gaining full health before committing to a return date.

Without giving a specific timeline, the goalkeeper hinted at the possibility of a return to the field by May. However, he emphasized his uncertainty about being fully prepared for a major tournament like the Euro by then.

Courtois’ decision to withdraw has undoubtedly dealt a significant blow to Belgium’s prospects in the forthcoming Euro 2024 tournament. The goalkeeper’s fitness and form will be crucial for any success his club or his country hope to achieve this season and in the upcoming European championship.
