Genoa’s Ottolini shields Gudmundsson amidst numerous offers

In an interview with Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX, Genoa’s Sporting Director, Marco Ottolini, spoke about the future of player Albert Gudmundsson amidst interest in the transfer markets.

“Gudmundsson? Many phone calls made but no offers,” reports Ottolini.

The sport director reiterated the club’s intention against letting any players go, while also stating that if an offer is received, it would be assessed by the club’s management, taking into account the player’s thoughts on the matter.

He praised Gudmundsson, highlighting his strength, ability to make a difference on the field, and significant growth seen over recent months. He only mentioned one area for improvement, that the Icelandic footballer needs to learn some Italian.

Despite the swirl of transfer speculations, Ottolini’s comments seem to demonstrate Genoa’s keen interest in retaining Gudmundsson amidst growing interest. So far, no deals are reported to have come forward.
