Lecce, D’Aversa: The Team Deserved the Win

In the wake of Lecce’s triumphant victory against Frosinone, the team’s manager, Roberto D’Aversa, shared his emotions with DAZN.

In an emotionally-charged aftermath, D’Aversa dedicated the victory to his mother. He described the match as being of great importance, not only for gaining three points but also for putting Lecce ahead in head-to-head clashes with Frosinone as well as in the standings. “This victory is a testament to the boys who believed in it until the end,” he said. He praised his team for their continued drive and commitment despite absences and difficulties.

As for the impact of having gathered 20 points so far, D’Aversa elaborated on its significance. He commended his young team, who he said has worked hard since the first day of retreat. He also acknowledged the club’s good work over the summer. D’Aversa remarked that the club doesn’t always reap what it deserves, but he had no doubts about who deserved the victory that day.

The Lecce manager also touched on the team’s consistency in late-game scoring, terming it a reflection of the team’s resilience and physical strength. Even with the occasional errors brought about by their youth, D’Aversa expressed his satisfaction with the players saying, “from the first day I have been here, I cannot fault this team.”

When commenting on Banda, D’Aversa expressed his belief that a player performs better when they have the confidence of their environment. However, he advised Banda to improve his approach, particularly in lessening his touches.

Regarding the possibility of resorting to two forwards, D’Aversa spoke highly of Piccoli, mentioning his instinct, strength, and quality. He noted that nothing should prevent Piccoli and Krstovic from playing together and that the whole team should support them.

Finally, when asked about his absence in the forthcoming game against Inter, D’Aversa felt it was a rewarding prospect for his assistants, even though he admitted it’s not pleasant to watch from the stands.
