Bonucci: I wanted to end at Juve, it won’t happen that way. But in the future…

Former Juventus captain Leonardo Bonucci has reflected on his past, present and future in a tell-all interview with Marca. The Italian described his time at Juventus, his departure from the club, and his ambitions for the future.

Speaking about his parting from the popular Italian club, Bonucci stated: “Everyone knew my desire, but I am living this moment with calmness and maturity.
“I am calmer today, less angry about what happened last summer. We have to move forward, look forward. My past at Juve was wonderful. I wanted to end my career at Juve. It won’t go like that. I am confident that I always strived for the best for the team. Every week I talk to many of my former colleagues. This reflects that I was an important person in the locker room: friend with the veterans and reference for the youngsters.”

The central defender also mentioned a potential return to Juventus in the future. Bonucci expressed his desire to move into coaching following his playing career. When asked about coaching Juventus, he affirmed, “It’s one of my objectives. I want to be a coach and if I could do it at the elite, Juve is one of the clubs I would like to coach. Juventus is a crucial part of my life.”

Bonucci went further to express gratitude to several prominent figures at the club, saying “I am grateful to Andrea Agnelli, Marotta, Paratici, and Nedved, a silent reference. And to the coach who changed me the most and helped me grow: Antonio Conte”.
