Monza-Genoa 1-0: Dany Mota seals victory in finale

In the fifteenth round of Serie A 2023/24, Monza secured a hard-fought victory over Genoa, 1-0 at the U-Power Stadium.

The game remained goalless until the 84th minute when Dany Mota Carvalho scored for Monza, breaking the deadlock. His successful strike was carefully set up by teammate Pedro Pereira.

The match’s final minutes were tense. A brilliant assist by Gudmundsson set up Dragusin, but the defender’s strike only hit the side of the net.

Football followers described the match as lacking spark, with both teams appearing weary by the end of the game.

Efforts from Vasquez and Messias failed to result in goals. Gudmundsson’s corner at the 63rd minute followed by Messias’ volley went wide, and Vasquez’s skewed shot after a Gudmundsson free kick ended up comfortably in the arms of Monza’s goalkeeper, Di Gregorio.

Despite an impressive effort in the 38th minute from Ciurria who found the back of the net for Genoa, the goal was disallowed due to an offside position.

The goal-scorer for the match, Dany Mota, started the match from the bench and was brought in by Monza’s coach, Palladino when the game needed an intervention.

The Genoa squad, under coach Gilardino, included players Martinez, Dragusin, De Winter, and Vasquez.

However, it was Monza’s day, and the lone goal by Dany Mota ensured they walked away with the three points.
